VER EN VIVO MANCHESTER UNITED vs LIVERPOOL 11-02-2012 ALEX FERGUSON wants to know why Liverpool did not appeal against Luis Suarez's eight-match ban if they felt he was innocent.
Manchester United have grown irritated this week at noises coming out of Anfield defending the Uruguayan, who was found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra.

And boss Ferguson said: "Why didn't they appeal?"

The situation has stoked up an already volatile fixture as the bitter rivals meet at Old Trafford this lunchtime.

Suarez was banned by the FA following the incident with Evra at Anfield in October.

Liverpool accepted the decision by football chiefs.

But this week Kop manager Kenny Dalglish said the South American should never have been banned and 25-year-old Suarez insisted he has nothing to apologise for.

This comes on the back of public pronouncements at the time defending Suarez and Liverpool players wearing T-shirts supporting the striker during pre-match warm-ups. But Fergie said: "They have said plenty haven't they?

"We have just got on with our job and kept our dignity throughout and we will just concentrate on the game.

"We have kept our counsel, which is the right thing to do in these situations, and we'll keep it that way."

Suarez made his first appearance since Boxing Day when he came on as a substitute in Monday's goalless draw against Spurs at Anfield.
